The Adventure Continues

The Adventure Continues
It's wildflower season in the Rocky Mountains

*gestures around at the current state of things* Well, this wasn't exactly in our five-year plan.

It's time for an update, with some significant life changes ahead.

Nongchao’s career uncertainty has prompted us to consider new paths, as he reconnects with his previous employer back east. So we found ourselves facing an unexpected crossroads. But you know what? Sometimes life's best adventures start with a curveball. Fortunately, I am able to continue working remotely with my current employer.

We're moving to Troy, New York (fingers crossed our rental application gets accepted!) by August 1st. That's right—we're trading the Rocky Mountains for the Hudson Valley, swapping our Colorado roots for a completely new chapter on the East Coast.

Leaving Home Behind

Don't get me wrong—saying goodbye to Colorado will be tough. This state has been our home, our playground, and our backdrop for countless adventures. We're leaving behind family, friends, and some of the most stunning natural beauty in the country. The thought of packing up our whole life and driving it 2,000 miles east (with a cat) is both exciting and terrifying.

But here's the thing about us: we’ve never been ones to let circumstances define our story.

The Silver Lining(s)

While Nongchao lived in the Albany area before, this will be my first time on the East Coast, and honestly? We're pretty excited about what potential this change might unlock.

Out here in Colorado, a two-hour drive can only get you so far. But Troy puts us within striking distance of so many places we've always wanted to explore—New York City, Boston, the Adirondacks, Vermont's mountains, Maine's coast. There is just so much more to do within a few hours of our home base.

The good news? Our appetite for exploration and side quests isn't changing—just our base camp. We're already plotting stops at quirky roadside attractions for our cross-country drive (because why not turn necessity into adventure?), and we can't wait to discover what hidden gems the Hudson Valley and greater Northeast have to offer.

We'll have a lot of nature's beauty to explore and share with you, and let's not forget New York City's opportunities for new and interesting cultural moments, art, and incredible food scene. This next chapter is just a giant multi-year side quest, and we’re looking forward to what we discover.

Come Along for the Ride

We'd love for you to follow along on this unexpected journey. If you know the Troy/Albany area and have recommendations for must-see spots, hidden local gems, or want to warn us about those notorious northeast winters, we would love to hear from you.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you never saw coming. Here's to embracing plot twists and seeing where this new path leads.

Adventure awaits.
